cloudLibrary – Audio and eBooks

cloudLibrary 2025Powered by 3M’s cloudLibrary, this is a state-wide consortium that offers e-books and e-audiobooks to member libraries (not compatible with all devices). New York Times Online Free Access

NYTFree access to the New York Times (NYT) made possible by a cooperative purchase by Blue Hill Public Library, Southwest Harbor Public Library, Northeast Harbor Library, Witherle Memorial Library (Castine), Jesup Memorial Library (Bar Harbor), Ellsworth Public Library, Bass Harbor Memorial Library, Buck Memorial Library (Bucksport), and Friend Memorial Library (Brooklin). After logging in through a browser, access is available on that device for 24 hours. To renew the subscription when that 24 hour window ends, click on the same link you used the first time, NYT Online All Access. NOTE: If you already have a basic NYT Online Account, you will need to either set up a new acccount with a different email or not renew your subscription. Once the subscription is lapsed, you can then use the pass.  You will have to delete your login information from your browser or device in order to use the 24 hour All Access Pass.

Wall Street Journal Free Access

Wall Street JournalFree access to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) to library patrons. There is a one-time set-up process that must be completed by requesting access below. You will then have browser access, as this pass is not compatible with the WSJ app.

Some examples include the NY Times, Nature, ERIC, Masterfile Premier, and Novelist – a reader advisory website. These exclusive databases and paying online subscriptions are FREE with your SWHPL card number.
