Art Reception – Sunday, July 30th from 4:00-6:00 p.m.

Join us on Sunday, July 30 from 4:00-6:00pm at the library for an Artist’s Reception to celebrate all of our wonderful artists participating in The Celebration of Art Silent Art Auction July 17 – August 26. Meet the artists, bid, and “Buy It Now” to purchase art immediately. Live music will be provided by Mount Desert Island-based acoustic duo Leavin’ Tulsa!

This library fundraiser is an online auction showcasing creative works of talented community artists as well as donations of art by local artists and artwork that has relevance to our area. All are welcome and artwork can be purchased in-person during this event.

Artists generously donate from 50-100% of the sale price of their work to the library, directly supporting the library’s programs, collections, and services. To make a bid, go to the auction site http://auctria.events/SWHPLibraryArtAuction.

The auction includes oils, watercolors, photographs, jewelry, ceramics, quilting and knitting with other media represented.

Art may be purchased immediately at the ‘Buy It Now’ price or bids may be placed on the artwork. Purchased items can be shipped at the owner’s expense. Bidding begins at 9:00 am on Monday, July 17th and ends at 12:00 pm on Saturday, August 26. Winning bidders will be notified shortly after the auction closes on August 26th. Sign up now to bid!

Stop by, view this fantastic exhibit, and bid to help us maintain the services and staffing we need to serve you. Library hours are from Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Wed 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sat 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Each year all of us at the Southwest Harbor Public Library look forward to the Celebration of Art on our fund-raising calendar. 2023 is no exception. We are thrilled to invite you to submit a unique piece of art, a donated piece of art by a local artist, or artwork that has relevance to our area for the auction to be held this summer from July 17 to August 26.

We welcome your participation and look forward to seeing your wonderful creations.

Your artwork will be on public display in the Library as well as on our auction website. Auction website details pending. Pieces will be available for bidding all-month long in the tradition of a silent auction and/or instant purchase via a Buy-It-Now option at an established value. Each piece is listed with the title, medium, artist’s name along with a short bio and item description.

On Sunday, July 30 from 4:00-6:00pm we will host a Reception to celebrate all of our wonderful artists. All are welcome and artwork can be purchased in-person during this event.

Our Buy-It-Now option will allow the successful bidder to pay for and take the artwork immediately at the pre-determined fair market value you set. You will be contacted when your artwork has been purchased in this manner and will be given the opportunity to submit an additional piece.

Proceeds from your generous participation and donation of your artwork will go directly to support the Library. The Library will split the top bid on your work 50/50 if you indicate this choice on your registration form, or, if you are able, consider donating 100%.

The Library deeply appreciates your willingness to share your artistic creativity. By participating in this Celebration, you are a great support to the Library and we thank you! If you have questions, please contact us at 244-7065 or via email at ArtAuction@swhplibrary.org.
