Two historical stories run at once as children evacuated from London during WWII are drawn into the story of King Richard the III told by an invalid uncle who relates it to the castle ruins on his country estate. It’s odd that the main character is purposely kept unlikeable, blurting out whatever comes into her head and often says things she doesn’t mean; yet much of the action is driven by her outbursts. I found it to be an intriguing blend of historical periods that peaked my interest in both.
