I had to read this all in one gulp. At first the plot seemed implausible, but once I was further into the story, I set that judgment aside and really enjoyed getting to know Zoe and her family. Whether or not a 12 year old could accomplish what she did; getting to know an incarcerated father she’d never met, prove him innocent and get him out of prison while navigating the usual stresses of middle school, doesn’t really matter. What matters to me is that she believed she could do it and would not give up. We all need some of that 12 year old mind set! The stationery her grandmother gave her read “From the Desk of Zoe Washington “; it could read “ from the mind of a child who will change the world because she believes she can.“
